June was the daughter of actors Gene and Kathleen Lockhart, making her screen debut with both of them in A Christmas Carol (1938). She is best known for her roles as the matriarch in both Lassie and Lost In Space. She continued to be active as an actress, as well as an ambassador of sorts for NASA making appearances at various conventions and dinners with astronauts and their families. She has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for Television and one for Movies. After almost 80 years in the entertainment industry, she continued to occasional take acting projects, mostly in roles as grandmothers. Her last role was as the Alpha Control voice in Netflix’s Lost In Space reboot in 2021.
